Ian Westley



After studying music at the University of Reading where he specialised in piano and organ, Ian has pursued a career as a music teacher and performer and has a large teaching practice in the Reading area.

As well as accompanying the South Chiltern Choral Society, Ian also accompanies Reading Haydn Choir. Recently Ian has performed throughout the country with Mark Kesel in a series of lecture recitals and educational workshops entitled ‘The Square on the Hippopotamus’.

Ian is also a singer and conductor and works extensively in the field of choral music. He was director of music in St Peter’s Church, Caversham for 26 years.  Ian conducts 'Vivace Voices'  (upper-voice choir) and ‘Cantemus of Newbury’.  He also runs and directs his own chamber choir, ‘Erleigh Cantors’, which specialises in singing choral music in the cathedrals of Southern England.

Leading Choral workshops has also become a regular part of Ian’s busy schedule.   Ian has been the accompanist of the South Chiltern Choral Society since 2003.
